About the research project: The Anterior GRadient (AGR) proteins, which comprise AGR1, AGR2 and AGR3 belong to the Protein Disulfide Isomerase family. They are involved in secretory and transmembrane protein biogenesis in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and contribute to ER homeostasis maintenance. To date, the vast majority of the reports concerns AGR2, which has been shown to exhibit various subcellular localizations and to exert pro-oncogenic functions. The objectives of the project aim at i) characterizing the interactome of AGR proteins in different cellular compartments, ii) evaluate the molecular and cellular functions these AGR-protein complexes and iii) evaluate their pathophysiological relevance in gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases and cancers.
